“Navarasa” is an anthology drama featuring the big names of the Tamil film industry. The anthology drama is an effort to help the film workers in Tamil cinema impacted by the pandemic.
The money generated from this effort will go to the film workers. Nine directors have made nine films, and each story focuses on one rasa such as anger, compassion, courage, disgust, fear, laughter, love, peace, and wonder.
Let’s find out the merits and demerits of the drama.
Plot 1 – Edhiri (Karuna)
This one is the first story of the Web Series, Directed by Bejoy Nambiar, this features Revathy, Vijay Sethupathi, and Prakash Raj in the lead roles. This is a great story and great performance by the lead. Watch this and you will not regret this one.
Plot 2 – Summer of 92 (Hasya)
This is Directed by Priyadarshan, the comedy king.This hasYogi in the lead. This flashback story brings enough laughs and make your day. Watch this if you want to laugh.
Plot 3 – Project Agni (Adbutha)
Aravind Swamy and Prasanna played scientists. If you are interested in space and physics, this one is for you. Watch this one to see how our film industry is exploring in various field and trying the new things and adapting to new way of filmmaking.
Plot 4 – Payasam (Bheebhatsa)
This one focused on a wedding and a jealous person. The lead character is jealous but not dangerous. How Jealousy is dangerous for a person, watch this for an answer.
Plot 5 – Peace (Shanthi)
This has nothing much to offer. Karthik Subbaraj’s ‘Peace’ looks like some of its past movies. But watch this for new experiment.
Plot 6 – Roudhram (Raudra)
This story is directed by the debutant by Arvind Swami. This is based on revenge involving police officers and the accused. This one you will find engaging.
Plot 7 – Inmai (Bhaya)
This one is from Horror type. Siddharth and Parvathy star in this horror story. It has some surprise elements. Watch this for excitement.
Plot 8 – Thunintha Pin (Veera)
‘Veera’ starring Atharva, Anjali, and Kishore is a normal story of government versus Naxals. Actors have acted pretty well.
Plot 9 – Guitar Mele Kambi Nindru (Sringara)
Director Gautham Menon has made many classic love stories in the past. Suriya tries his best to play a young musician, but the story looks too clichéd. Like Gautam Menon’s previous movies, this love story is also narrated in flashback. Songs composed by Karthik are nice.
Rating Analysis
Expectations increased when Maniratnam decided to come with an web series titled Navarasa, highlighting nine emotions among human beings roping in star filmmakers and renowned stars. But for all the hype, Navarasa failed to live up to the expectation. But this is a great beginning that directors and Actors are trying new things and taking the film industry to a new level. Considering all the aspects this web series is one time watch and we will give 3.5 Stars.
